13 novembre 2007L’infection VIH qui, reste en premier lieu une atteinte du système immunitaire, peut également altérer certains tissus, en particulier le cerveau, les muscles, les os et les vaisseaux sanguins mais aussi certains organes comme le foie, les poumons ou le cœur. Cette altération peut être directement le fait du VIH, celui d’un autre agent pathogène ou bien encore être due à une atteinte cancéreuse, puisqu’il est établi que cette infection favorise la survenue de certains cancers. Cependant, depuis l’avènement des multithérapies, on sait aussi que la prise au long cours d’antirétroviraux peut provoquer des atteintes des différents tissus et organes du corps humain. Parmi les organes ciblés par le VIH et/ou les antirétroviraux, le rein ne fait hélas pas exception : il semble alors utile de faire le point sur ce sujet.

27 octobre 2010Les personnes séropositives peuvent connaître des affections rénales plus ou moins sévères, que ce soit directement dû à l’infection VIH (inflammation permanente) ou à la prise d’antirétroviraux et à leur toxicité rénale à long terme. Il est possible de prévenir les atteintes du rein et essentiel de surveiller la fonction rénale. Cela comprend la mise en place d’un bilan rénal avant de débuter un traitement, un changement d’antirétroviraux si nécessaire, des dosages à adapter, une surveillance attentive en cas d’antécédents de maladie rénale, etc.
